Bluegrass Swissies is operated out of Sparta, Kentucky. We are a family of 5, and were searching for a dog that would be the perfect family companion, good with children, as well as a good protector. After much research, we discovered that the Greater Swiss Mountain Dog was the PERFECT fit. Through this research we found that there are not many Swissie Breeders in the U.S. compared to other breeds. We wanted to share our love for the Swissie and be able to share puppies with those looking for the same great companion!
Our 3 Swissies are kept inside (except for at playtime, where they are allowed to run amok on our farm) and are an integral part of our family! Our objective is to deliver happy, healthy Greater Swiss Mountain dog puppies to carry on the Swissie legacy here in the United States, starting right here in the Bluegrass state! ABOUT THE BREED
The Greater Swiss Mountain Dog is a giant but gentle breed. From our personal experience they are extremely loyal, loving, and an excellent guard dog! The females average around 110 lbs while the males average 140+ lbs. They are an excellent working dog for around the farm or just someone to lounge around the house with. They aren't destructive chewers but do love their bacon flavored bones!
